Boost yourself

The Character Design week was varied and productive. We had Julia Bracegirdle as a  teacher and she taught us how to boost our imagination and be patient until we reach a final product. I guess several of us got a bit frustrated that we haven't drawn that much.  I consider it was a bild up for the last assignment, and it was necessary to reach a new shape language  and get out of our comfort zone.
First day we made a short movie about things from Danmark called Danish for Beginners. Enjoy!

What we did next is photo collages from pictures we took ourselves in Viborg and created our childhood imaginary friends. It was a funny assignment :)

In the last 2 days of the week we have been given to create 2 characters based on an audiobook story. We listened all together to it, I felt being back in kindergarten somehow. It felt nice and calm.
The story was a little busy with 5 characters having a funny situation, but we all did great job working on this assignment. People were happy to create something from the beginning, meaning drawing not photo collages :D

I chose a graphical style because we had only 1 day and a half to finish it. I thought the idea also will fit a more limited animation style, because the story is for adults.
This is what I came up with. I actually feel liking too much the Maid, and I will consider continuing making some illustration with her.
Character design is a nice course and is a nice job, it also requires some patience until you get there, to that final result you like.

Aaaannnnddddd.........Wish me luck! Next 4 week we are going to make ShortShortFilm. Which is a project associated with studio work. It means we are going to created a short movie with a group of 6 people. It will be insane!! But fun as well! See you soon with more fresh, purple works!
