Euranim in Belgium

It's nice to feel back home. I have spent a week in Belgium with one of my colleague, Marcus, from CGA. We had an opportunity to participate in a workshop held at Howest. It's a school where they are studying Gaming design (and they're doing it proffesionaly as well). The workshop is called EURANIM and is a project about videomaping. We were introduced in to the way of making projection on different surfaces. We had a nice teacher, but he spoke English not at the level we could understand him easily.
Otherall the trip went fine. I was lucky to met some nice students from other institutions from France, Hungary, Finland, Belgium and England. It was also cozy to stay in the same hotel (the same room). Firstly, I thought it will be troublesome, getting to know new people and their habits it's hard to me. But actually, it became friendly and I miss their company and our small jokes about workshop. It really felt like a fast summer vacation at camping.
We had breackfast at hotel's restaurant accompanied with some majestic opera music. One of my workshop colleagues was Sonja, she enjoyed mostly this part of the day.

In the last day we have visited a little of Kortrijk. The views there are quite similar to Viborg. I think it's a friendly city, I guess not so often we got honked by the drivers at pedestrian crossings.
I think they have cozy cafeterias in Kortrijk. We have visited one specialised in making coffee, we have almost the same in my home town, but the one in Belgium is a little more fancy.

I have found some nice book illustrators in one library. It was quite an unique caffe because they had it combined with a book store. So, actually you can buy a book and after enjoy a coffee or cocoa reading it .

This is how we worked at the workshop. We had a well equipped room, but we worked with our own laptops and tablets. The room was full of art made by howest students and they had some artbooks in the shelves as well. We breathed day by day the same air, we saw the same faces in front of us and we hear the same words <beamer, beamer, beamer> (actually meaning a projector) beamer
We all used to play football game... except me, I played just once and I lost, but it was worth trying. I guess the photo was captured when the french girl, Lara, was doing her killing move in order to score. It was entertaining to watch and it took a lot of energy from us to play. We played table tenis as well!

We will have to wait a little for the final video from workshop. I can add here a small preview on what I did during the workshop. It was nice to work with general shapes and also it was nice getting back to toonboom for a while.

The trip back home was safe and entertaining. We went to airport together with Finish girls. We managed even to get lost one from another. We were talking about maube meating one day, after 10 years remembering the workshop day. I think it was a nice experience.

I have really missed the view of Viborg. I felt really happy to come back and continue studying near my TAW colleagues.

  1. Hello! I hope I won't seem to be a stalker or sound like a creepy person, but I just wanted to say I'm so glad that I discovered your blog! I love reading about your journey in Denmark and other great places as you develop your inner world and animation path. It's truly inspiring as I wish one day I will be able to walk on a similar path as well. Your tips and way of presenting things is truly helpful and lovely and I am eager to see new things from you as I am always drawn to other people's realities and insights especially the ones of artists and animators. :)
And I want to be honest with you, just like everything happens with a reason, so I came upon your blog...it wasn't a sudden discover as I've wanted to contact you for a while now and felt too anxious to try...I hope you won't be upset that I tried to search you (in fact I found your profile on the TAW's page while I was exploring the website for information about the college; and I was so happy for that. I know it might sound super creepy but I sincerely do not know how to express myself exactly the way I want. I wish it's still understandable though hehe).
In fact I even wrote you a note on deviantart a couple of weeks ago or so, after I've finally decided that I truly wanted to contact you. But I've seen you were inactive in there...maybe you've already read my note, in that case I respect your will of not replying and I will not bother you at all, it's just that I felt like trying again ^^ And well, if you did not read it yet, I'd appreciate it so much if you'd do that. It's a longer message and I wrote it in romanian as I thought it would feel more familiar and a more relaxed way of talking to you since as far as I am concerned we speak the same language (nu-i asa?).
Honestly I made a blogger account just to get in touch with you (I explained everything more detailed in the note and again you have my word that I am not trying to lie or stalk you D:) but I'm afraid I have no idea how one can send a private message to another on this site. Maybe you didn't want to be contacted and if that's the case I want to apologize.
I wish to hear from you soon and I also wish you all the best on your journeys and keep up the good work like always. And just like I said (since I tend to repeat myself when I am a little anxious...) even if you choose not to reply to me, I will understand and respect your choice :)

P.S.: I've written this in English because I was a little shy to bump you with sudden message in romanian ^^
